Finidi George has on the back of a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Ghana gained more support to lead the Super Eagles just as some are still not convinced he is the coach to lift Nigeria to glory.
The Super Eagles under Finidi delivered a direct, attacking style of football to beat the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly in Morocco.
It was a sharp departure from the defensive football that got Nigeria to the final of the 2023 AFCON.
The Super Eagles players have already thrown their weight behind the former Ajax winger.
“He has done a fantastic job within such a short space of time, hopefully, he will get more chances to prove himself,” said Kelechi Iheanacho.
Cyriel Dessers scored the first goal of Finidi’s bow as Eagles boss against Ghana.
“He had a clear approach to this game – press aggressively and create more chances in this manner and I think we did that,” said the Rangers striker.
“I think he knows everything about the team. He has been part of us, so it is not going to be difficult for him to lead the team,” added Portugal-based defender Chidozie Awaziem.
“I hope we will have a good run with him.”
