Strike: FG, organised labour in closed door meeting

Organized Labour is currently in a meeting with the Federal Government team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The labour delegation, led by Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), arrived at the Conference Hall of the Permanent Secretary, State House at 3:15 pm.

The labour team includes Nuhu Toro, Secretary of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), and Emma Ugbaja, his counterpart from the NLC.

On the government side, the delegation is headed by Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President. The team comprises Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Service of the Federation; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser (NSA); Simon Lalong, Minister of Labour and Employment; Nkeiruka Onyejecha, Minister of State; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance; Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; and Beta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The meeting is also attended by several directors from the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Notably, there was no formal opening ceremony as the meeting proceeded directly behind closed doors.
