Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed sorrow over the passing of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

Obi described Balogun’s demise as a significant loss not only to Ibadanland but to the entire nation, noting the late monarch’s commitment to national development.

The Olubadan, who recently passed away, has been laid to rest according to Muslim rites.

In a statement posted on X, Obi said, “I am saddened by the reports of the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

He was a true Nigerian who remained committed to building a better nation for all Nigerians.”

Obi highlighted Balogun’s service as a legislator and noted his substantial contributions to national development.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Balogun family, the government, and the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State, praying for them and all mourners to find the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
