Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has dropped a major hint about the prospect of him leaving the party before the 2027 election season. Speaking during an engagement with his supporters on his Verified X space, hosted by Parallel Facts, Obi emphasized his unwavering commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, a vision embraced by committed members of the Obidient Movement.

Addressing the perceived crisis within the Labour Party, Obi described it as a distraction from their core focus on addressing critical national issues such as water, power, employment, and security. He emphasized that the primary goal of the Obidient Movement is to effect positive change in Nigeria, and any party affiliation is secondary to this overarching objective.

“Our engagement is about Nigeria, they are trying to change our focus. What we want to do is not about Labour Party; it is about what the Obidients want to do about Nigeria,” Obi stated.

Drawing parallels with a biblical reference, Obi likened his approach to the situation to the teachings of Jesus, highlighting the importance of striving for change but also recognizing when it is necessary to part ways if change cannot be achieved from within.

“I’m making spirited efforts to change them (LP), but I’m not going to die with them. That will not stop what we set out to do. We will try to change them (LP), if we can’t, we will leave them; we will not die with them,” he affirmed.

Obi’s comments have sparked speculation about his future political plans and potential party affiliations, with many keenly observing his next move as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections.
