In a recent statement, Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, called upon Nigerians to seek divine intervention during the remaining days of the Lenten season.

Obi emphasized that there are individuals in Nigeria who are experiencing hunger and uncertainty about their next meal, with some even losing their lives in the quest for food.

Sharing his thoughts, Obi expressed, “I extend warm wishes to all Nigerian Christians as we enter the profound phase of the Holy Week, a time of reflection on the central aspects of our faith. Since the commencement of Lent on February 14, 2024, Christians have been engaged in fasting, prayer, and acts of kindness, including helping the less fortunate.”

He further added, “The Holy Week offers us a chance to contemplate not only our personal challenges but also the collective hurdles facing our nation. It serves as a moment to implore God for divine intervention.”

Obi urged for prayers amidst the prevailing insecurity causing suffering and loss of lives in the nation. He also highlighted the alarming food scarcity, stating, “Families are struggling to put food on the table, leading to tragic consequences.”

He emphasized the need for unity and compassion, calling for a restoration of Nigeria’s values that promote diversity and harmony.

Concluding his message, Obi encouraged Nigerians to come together in prayer for healing and renewal during the Holy Week, expressing hope for a better future for the nation.
