1. The Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday threatened to impeach the State governor, Sim Fubara. The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, disclosed this during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

2. Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Obinze, Owerri, said they destroyed the den of notorious terrorists led by one Monday Ogu, popularly called B44. Addressing journalists shortly after the operation on Saturday, the Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Usman Lawal, said the exercise was carried out by his gallant officers following intelligence reports.

3. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday displayed the list of candidates of 17 political parties vying for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State. DAILY POST reports that the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Anugbum Onuoha, displayed the list at the INEC office in Benin City.

4. A man, Chizoke Obiadada, and his son, Micheal Obiadada, have landed in police net for joining hands to beat their neighbour’s wife, Tope Owoade, to death in the Ogijo Area of Ogun State. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Omolola Odutola, on Saturday.

5. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has urged Christians to see the victory of Jesus Christ over death as a huge motivation that a new Nigeria is possible. Writing on his X handle, Obi said that it is also a strong indication that Nigerians will surmount the existing hardship and sing the great alleluia in the end.

6. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it is on the trail of illegal miners in Borno who have been defying the ban on mining activities in the state. The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Farouq Musa-Boyi, disclosed this to newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri.

7. Lagos State Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge will be fully open for traffic again starting on April 4th. This was contained in a statement by the Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

8. Nigeria Police Force have arrested eight suspects allegedly involved in the killing of some policemen in the Ughelli area of Delta State. Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

9. Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested 279 suspects and recovered 2,092.5kg of illicit substances in the first quarter of 2024. The State Commander of NDLEA, Samaila Danmalam, made this disclosure to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna.

10. Former President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has admonished Nigerians to keep faith and remain resilient in the face of challenges, noting that it is a sure way to rise above adversity. Lawan, in a message to mark the Easter Day celebration, said Easter presents Nigerians with yet another opportunity to work together in the spirit of renewal towards a better future for all.
