A political commentator, Theophilus Abu Agada, has urged Aisha Yesufu, a member of the Peter Obi/Datti Campaign organisation, to make public statement of account of donations received during the campaign period as she promised.

Yesufu had in a tweet on September 6, 2023, promised to make public the statement of account to show transparency of the Obi/Datti Campaign.

However, she’s yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

Sending her a reminder, Agada said it’s over two months she promised to do so and urged her to fulfil her promise.

He wrote, “Dear Aisha Yesufu, A very good afternoon to you. I want to quickly remind you of the promise you made regarding the publication of the statement of account for the Obi/Datti Campaign.

“It has been almost two months since the Supreme Court affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of Nigeria.

“During the court process, you made a commitment that Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate, would make the full details of money received and expenditure, public.

“This promise generated anticipation and hope for transparency in the political process. However, it appears that this promise has not been fulfilled.

“I want to urge you and Mr. @PeterObi
to honor your commitment by publishing a well-detailed account of the money received and spent by the campaign.

“Transparency in campaign financing plays an important role in fostering public trust in the electoral process.

“By providing a comprehensive report, you would not only demonstrate your commitment to accountability but also set an example for other campaigns to follow.

“I want to emphasize that my request for accountability is not meant to cast doubt on your integrity or the Obi/Datti campaign, rather it would help to showcase your campaign’s dedication to openness and integrity. .

“Since your presidential candidate personally posted an account number soliciting for funds here, it is important that he fulfills his responsibility to the Nigerian people by providing a well-detailed account of how the money was spent.

‘Thank you Aisha and I hope to hear from you soon.”
