The Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has said his biggest concern is how to solve the myriad of problems facing the nation and not the “family” misunderstanding among the members of the party.
Obi said the time for elections and politics is over, saying leaders in power and those out of power should focus on saving the lives of the poor. Making the country a better place for its grassroots and diverse communities should be a priority for everyone, he said.

He said this on Sunday in Bauchi when he commissioned a water project that he donated to Sabo Layi community along Bauchi-Ningi Road.
The former governor of Anambra State said he went around among the people in communities in Nigeria to know how they earn their livelihood and how they are doing amid the hardships faced by the larger percentage of Nigeria’s population confronted ‘to see if there are little things I can do’. help them make their lives better and then ask them to keep praying for Nigeria.”
He pledged to help with additional donations to about 100 people in the community.
The former Governor of Anambra State said it is time for the leaders of the country to love each other and work to help the poor people.
Speaking on the recent increase in electricity tariffs by the federal government, he said it is right to tax the rich who can afford to pay more and use the resources to help those who cannot.
“Because we need to do more in terms of power, it is taking too long. We need to generate and distribute more power, but we need to take into account that the majority of Nigerians are suffering, so we need to support those areas to live and produce,” Obi said.
“When they start producing something, we push them out of poverty and that’s where my theory about the transition from consumption to production comes in.
“We can’t tax people first, we need to support small businesses and make sure this rate isn’t spread across the same level – for the big and for the small.”
Responding to insinuations circulating that he might quit the party, Obi said “never”. He added: “I was only advocating peace. I am a man who believes in peace and unity.
“I believe that there is no difference between me and others, but I have the mercy of the Almighty. And that’s why I come to the community. I could have sent someone to do this, but I said no. I go to the communities and hug them, talk to them and know how to solve their problems.”
He said it should not be about elections, but about spending more time with the people to know what they want. Quality time to talk about how we can bring children who are out of school back to school.
“I’ve said it before: I’m not desperate to become president, I’m desperate to see Nigeria work for poor people. It’s important to me because we can’t continue like this. The poor people in this country are suffering a lot and I urge all leaders – both in and out of office, this is time for us to listen, time to work with them (the poor), time to make a difference. to feel some of their pain. ”
Obi said the leadership crisis rocking LP would be resolved amicably. “The Labor Party is not Nigeria’s problem, Nigeria’s problem is outside the Labor Party, so my focus is on Nigeria. My promise is a new Nigeria, and that new Nigeria is what I am focused on and we must remain focused on that.
“If it wasn’t for Nigeria’s leadership, I wouldn’t have supplied this water. Let’s talk about how people will live and eat. “I assure you that the Labor Party will resolve these issues – it is family, there is no family without struggle, no individual is perfect,” he said.
