Former Benue governor Samuel Ortom says he is prepared to be reached whenever necessary to address matters pertaining to his tenure as the state’s chief executive.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Makurdi by his media assistant, Mr. Terver Akase, Ortom, who unsuccessfully ran for a Senate seat on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, made this claim.

In response to purported provocations by the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he asked his followers to maintain composure and abide by the law rather than inflame the political climate.

Ortom praised the complaints made about his claimed harassment to anti-graft organizations, which resulted in the arrests of his appointees and the impounding of his vehicles.

The former governor also encouraged prudence and caution in those making public pronouncements about the matter in order to avoid inflaming the political climate.

“I am capable of responding to the issues being raised against me and other officials of my government and I have always made known my belief in the rule of law.

“I am ready to make myself available to respond to issues bordering on my administration whenever the need arises,” Ortom said.

He appreciated his supporters and well-wishers for their prayers and messages of goodwill.
