A former spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Chuks Ibegbu has described the appointments so far made by President Bola Tinubu as lopsided.

Ibegbu, who stated this in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP in Enugu, reminded Tinubu that he is now the president of all the sections of the country comprising those that voted for, and those that did not vote for him.

The former Ohanaeze spokesman who is hesitant in commending the president over his appointments so far however advised him to reflect the nation’s geographical and ethnic diversities of the country in choosing his appointees.

“I will not clap for him, his appointment is lopsided, I thought he will improve on what the former President, Muhammadu Buhari did,” he stated.

Ibegbu averred that he had expected Tinubu to improve and reflect the huge inputs of the Igbos in the country in his appointments.

When reminded that Ohanaeze gave huge support to the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi during the last general election, Ibegbu noted that the Obi project was not an ethnic project, adding that it would have been a calamity if the Igbo apex body did not support its son.

“The fact is that our position was clear that we have not produced a president, we had no reason not to support him, our forefathers will not have forgiven us besides, Obi project was not an ethnic affair,” he stated.

The former spokesman of Ohanaeze however said since the election was over, they have no reason to be enemy to President Tinubu.

He noted that former governors of Ebonyi and River States, Dave Umahi and Nyesom Wike were appointed into the positions they are holding because of their support for the president and called on the Tinubu to give Igbos their due share.
