He stated that the visit, which happened just hours after the Supreme Court decision, gave him the opportunity to congratulate the President on Thursday’s decision.

Former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, has told all political stakeholders in the country to consider all that transpired during the February elections as bygone and focus on how to move the country forward.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Jonathan met with Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa; the ex-president afterwards briefed the press at the Villa.
His visit came after the Supreme Court affirmed Tinubu’s victory and dismissed the appeals filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

Jonathan after meeting Tinubu was quoted by Channels TV as saying, “There are certain things we discussed so that the country must move forward. Elections are over, we must move forward.

“Yes, we have challenges economically now, we still have all it takes to lead. These are some of the issues I will continue to have a conversation with Mr President on, including briefing him on all my foreign programmes because they are not personal issues.”

He stated that the visit, which happened just hours after the Supreme Court decision, gave him the opportunity to congratulate the President on Thursday’s decision.

He believed that there was a need to eliminate the tension and go forward as Africa’s most populated nation.

Jonathan called on all political leaders, including former President to eschew bitterness and work together in harmony for the country’s overall good.

The former president also said his visit was to inform Tinubu of some of his recent foreign engagements as well as some sundry issues affecting the country.
