There are indications that all is not well in the Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party, as members of the party across the north and central senatorial districts are pointing fingers at the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, for allegedly working to end the party’s life in the state.
The allegations followed the victory of the former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, in the primary election of the party, where he polled 316 votes out of the 340 delegate votes up for grabs.

It is sad, Mr. Imasuagbon lost his chance of becoming a wining candidate because of how he gave up all the efforts he put into 2019 election when he stepped down for Obaseki. It was rumored that he got paid to do so. He was one of the candidate who vowed never to step down for anybody but never kept to his words. Whether or not he would have been rewarded in the last primary, he was the first to defect to LP as soon as the general election of 2023 were over with. He should have remained in PDP and see how Obaseki was going to act during the primary. He has himself to blame for the set back in his political career. Most Nigerian politician gamble with their career in politics without the slightest loyalty to the party and strategy to win elections. How on earth will the LP flag bearer who is among the newest members of the LP would have scored 316 votes and the rest five candidates just 24.That is so suspicious, something was not right.
