Nollywood actor and former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed confidence that the current crisis within the party will not hinder Peter Obi’s potential presidential bid in 2027.

Okonkwo emphasized that in politics, the focus is on the candidate rather than the party.

Speaking in a recent interview with Arise TV, Okonkwo praised Peter Obi, stating that he represents a vision of “a new Nigeria,” irrespective of the political platform he chooses to contest on.

“2027 is about Peter Obi, not about Labour Party. Anybody who is bringing Peter Obi to the table is bringing the new Nigeria, a new third force, absolute victory,” Okonkwo declared.

He further highlighted Peter Obi’s impact on the Labour Party, stating, “When you come to elections, you talk about candidates, not political parties.

Peter Obi electrified the Labour Party. He has no business losing sleep over whatever is happening in any political party.

How many months did he join the Labour Party? And he achieved what he did. People are loyal to his person. The new Nigeria is loyal to his people.”

Okonkwo’s remarks underscore the belief among some political observers that the strength of a candidate’s appeal and vision can transcend the challenges faced by their affiliated political party.
