A former spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku-Okowa 2023 presidential campaign, Daniel Bwala, has labelled ex-Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi a grandstander, adding that he loves to approbate and reprobate.

Bwala was reacting to Obi’s opinion on the withdrawal of Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers from the International Basketball Federation, FIBA, Afrobasket 2025 Qualifiers due to lack of funds cited by the Nigerian Basketball Federation.

The sports body had earlier announced on Wednesday that the men’s basketball team had to withdraw from the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers, which began on Friday, 23, in Tunisia, because the Ministry of Sports couldn’t provide the necessary funds.

“The board of NBBF appeals to the ever-growing fans and lovers of the game in Nigeria and diaspora to understand the dire situation it found itself in view of the economic challenges faced by the country, even as it promised to redouble its efforts and commitments to the continued growth of the game in Nigeria,” the statement had read in part.

Obi, reacting to the development, had posted on X: “I read, with dismay, the reports of the withdrawal of Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Afrobasket 2025 Qualifiers due to lack of funds.”

However, Bwala in a post of his own, reminded Obi of an old post where he said “We must stop this unproductive habit of throwing scarce and borrowed money at immediate problem,” as he further criticized the former Presidential aspirant for alleged grandstanding.

Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “You just like to approbate and reprobate Pitobi. Didn’t you say the below? Nothing Dey sweet you like grandstanding. Twitter President.”
