BAYELSA VOTERS RETURN: PEACEFUL POLLS AMIDST LOW TURNOUT; GOVERNOR DIRI OPTIMISTIC FOR PDP VICTORY

After about a two-year break, electorates in Bayelsa state have gone to the polls to elect chairmen and councilors to run the eight local government areas in the state.

Though with low turn-out of voters, the exercise was peaceful in many of the polling units visited by Arise News in Kolokuma-Opokuma Council Area.

Governor Douye Diri who voted with his wife, Gloria at about 10:15 am at the Kalamaowei Wari, Unit 4, Ward six in Sampou Community, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election organised by the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission.

The governor says he is confident that the Peoples Democratic Party will emerge victorious having campaigned vigorously across all councils in the State.
