An explosion rocked the Gaza strip on Saturday (October 7), sending smoke and dust across the city, after the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas launched a surprise assault that combined gunmen crossing into Israel with a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza.

The Israeli military said it had responded with air strikes into Gaza, after Hamas launched a raid into Israel on Saturday.

Reuters video captured the moment a building was struck in Gaza city, spewing plumes of thick black smoke into the air.

The building which collapsed after air strike, called “Palestine Tower”, is the headquarters of several offices of media institutions in the city.

Israel said the Iran-backed group had declared war as its army confirmed fighting with militants in several Israeli towns and military bases near Gaza, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to retaliate.

At least 100 Israelis are reported dead, with hundreds more wounded in the attack.

The Israeli military confirmed Israelis were being held captive in Gaza and soldiers have been killed, according to N12 and Reshet 13 news outlets.

  1. Let's go IDF 🇮🇱 GO ALL OUT!! Flat line Gaza with Hamas in it. Take no prisoners ! These animals understand only brutal force! And brutal force they shall get.

  2. im envious to see them having fun and spending a lot of money on short term excitement and explosions. but i hope they will also chase long term goals and not waste all their money on short term happiness. else they end up poor like india!

  3. High street supermarkets are profiting from Israel’s occupation of Palestine by selling produce from Israeli settlements, says UK charity War on Want. Under international law, Israel’s West Bank and East Jerusalem settlements are illegal. By selling settlement produce, supermarkets are complicit in illegal activity and are profiting from Palestinian suffering. War on Want is campaigning to tell the CEOs of Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Asda to stop selling settlement produce in their stores.

Alternative video news channel Undercurrents recently filmed shoppers occupying Waitrose supermarket in London in protest over the support for illegal settlements in Israel. Much of the produce sold as 'Israel' actually comes from stolen lands in Palestine. Watch video report here:

  4. The children you bombed 10 years ago grew up and went on a killimg spree 5 days ago. The children you are bombing now will haunt you for generations to come. The only solution is dialogue. But hey the native indians tried to talk. So did the auboriganies. So i guess the killing season it is again for the most ruthless inhumane and bloodthirsty empire to have ever lived.

  5. Did anyone see the missiles? This looks just like a controlled demolition using explosives. As the second tower begins to fall forward, but another explosion brings it back so it drops level. That 3rd tower only took a hit to the right hand corner and yet collapsed within itself!
