Students Abducted From School Bus In Ekiti Regain Freedom, Driver Found Dead, Police Arrest Eight

The Ekiti State Police Command says it has arrested eight suspects over the recent killing of two traditional rulers as well as the abduction of some pupils in in Ekiti south-western Nigeria. On January 29, gunmen killed two Ekiti monarchs โ€“ the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin.
Giving an update on Sunday, the police authorities in Ekiti State said the suspects were arrested during a joint operation which was carried out through Emure-Ekiti Forest, Ise/Ogbese Forest to Emure-Ile Forest in Ondo State.

Also, the pupils and teachers of the Apostolic Faith Montessori School in Emure Ekiti kidnapped on January 29 have regained their freedom. It was reported that the schoolchildren were released in the earlier hours of Sunday. Meanwhile, the driver, who was also among the abductees, was killed and burnt by the assailants .

Police Public Relations Office, Abutu Sunday, in a statement stated that the operation involved police operatives, Amotekun corps, vigilantes, local hunters, members of Agbekoya Group including Policemen and Amotekun Corps from Ondo State.
He identified the suspects as Yaya Sumaila, Idrisu Abubakar, Hassan Abudullahi, Abudullahi Abudullahi, Haruna Abubakar, Usman Abudullahi, Haruna Sule including one Babusa Alhaji Lede who was arrested inside Ayedun/ Ayebode Ekiti forest in Ikole Area of the state.
โ€œThe suspects are currently undergoing investigation and are giving credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects that perpetrated the dastard acts,โ€ he said.
