Oyo/Osun customs intercept over 7.1bn of smuggled goods in 2023

The Oyo/Osun area command of the Nigeria Customs Service has disclosed that it intercepted items worth 71.2 billion naira from smugglers in the year 2023.

The Oyo/Osun area comptroller Ben Oramalugo disclosed this while addressing newsmen at a press conference held in Ibadan.

This conference, being the first in 2024, aims to present the scorecard of the Oyo/Osun area command for the 2023 fiscal year.

The area commander, addressing newsmen, disclosed that these achievements were made possible through unwavering commitment to combating smuggling activities within his area of control.

He disclosed that used bags, vehicles, rice, premium motor spirit, among others, made the list of commodities that generated the huge revenue.

Meanwhile, during the period from January 1st to the 18th, the Oyo/Osun area command intercepted various items, resulting in a total revenue of 30 million naira.

Notable among the seized items were over 3,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 100 pieces of timber, and numerous bags of rice.

He also extended condolences to the government of Oyo State regarding the recent explosion incident in the state.
