Mobolaji Johnson train station, Lagos State.
The Mobolaji Johnson train station in the Ebute Metta district is the most important train station in Lagos , the largest city in Nigeria . It is also the largest train station in West Africa with a capacity of 6,000 passengers. The station was built by the Chinese China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation under the direction of the Nigerian Railway Corporation . The building was inaugurated on June 10, 2021 along with the double-track standard gauge line to Ibadan , replacing the dilapidated Ebute Metta station building from colonial times. The station was named after the first governor of Lagos after independence, Mobolaji Johnson .

In 2021, it replaced the Lagos Terminus train station , also known as Iddo train station, which marks the end point of the Cape Gauge line a few kilometers south, as the city’s most important train station. This will apparently be used as a freight station at the port in the future.
