The Joint Labour Congress comprising Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and other affiliate unions in Kwara State have issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Kwara State governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to implement the memorandum of understanding reached last year on the N35,000 wage award for all categories of workers and to domesticate/implement the 40% peculiar allowance as approved by the Federal government with workers to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal and other grievances.

The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Muritala Olayinka and Chairman, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Tunde Joseph disclosed this during a press conference at the labour house in Ilorin the State capital where they maintained that the move became necessary after the union had written government on several occasions without positive response.

According to the Joint Labour Congress in Kwara State, failure of governor Abdulrazaq to implement the ten point-demand occasioned by the biting effects of the fuel subsidy removal has inflicted untold economic, psychological and physical hardship on the workers.

The workers have issued a 14-day ultimatum to the State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to resolve all pending issues and implement the agreement accordingly or risk industrial action come 26th January 2024.

The ultimatum takes effect from January 9th -26th January 2024.
