A group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), operating under the banner of PDP Forever Initiative, has called on the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, to either resume office or tender his resignation. The group made this demand during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday. Governor Akeredolu, who returned to the country in September after a three-month medical leave in Germany, has not made any public appearances since his return.

The National Coordinator of the PDP Forever Initiative, Hon. Obande Gideon Obande, emphasised that there is a provision in the law for the deputy governor to assume the governor’s duties in an acting capacity. During the press conference addressing the leadership vacuum in Ondo State, Obande conveyed the group’s concern, maintaining that the governor’s incapacitation should not impede governance in the state.

He also expressed wishes for Governor Akeredolu’s swift recovery. The call from this group adds to the ongoing discussions surrounding the governor’s prolonged absence and its potential impact on the effective functioning of the state’s leadership.
