The Super Eagles of Nigeria have sealed Qualification to Ivory coast African Cup of Nations 2023 following their dramatic 3-2 victory against Sierra leone on Sunday evening

The game was played at the Samuel Doe stadium in Monrovia, Liberia at exactly 5pm Local time

Head Coach Jose Peserio was on serious pressure coming in the game cuz the Eagles haven’t been on the best of form lately and with news of his contract ending
He had to show his worth by winning the game

He went with a starting XI of Adeleye,Omeruo,Ajayi,Zaidu, Ndidi, Iwobi,Aribo, Chukwueze, Moses and Osihmen.

As the game started, The three times African Champion began on the front foot controling possession and to create goal-scoring chances but the sierra leones were up to the task sniffing out any glimmer of hope

The First goal was scored by Victor Osimhen when he muscled his opposing defender and then lob the incoming goalkeeping from outside the box18 perfectly

Victor Osimhen added to his opening goal when he tapped for an up-through pass from Alex Iwobi to make it 2-0 .

Heading into the stroke of half time the Home Side halved the deficit when Mustapha Bundu outpaced Captain Kenneth Omeruo before releasing a powerful shot that gave Goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye no chance of saving

As the Second half began, Home side started on the better side and where finally reward when Mustapha Bundu again but this time for outside the penalty area struck a fierce shot beating the Nigerian Goalkeeper at his near post …sigh

In the Closing stage of the game Nigeria sealed the victory when Zaidu Sanusi dribble past multiple players shades of prime Hazard before serving the ball on a palatar for Kelechi Iheanacho to tap in

How to Watch Nigeria Super Eagles vs Sierra Leone Live – 2023 AFCON Qualifiers

The match will be played on Sunday the 18th of June by 5pm Nigerian time at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium in Liberia.

Just get a point against Sierra Leone and secure qualification to the 2023 African Cup of Nations which will be played in 2024.
Take a look at the group standing, Guinea-Bissau top the group with 10 points from 5 games, Nigeria second with 9 points from 4 games, Sierra Leone third with 5 points from 4 games as well while Sao Tome and Principe are bottom with 1 point from 5 games.

There are 12 groups in this qualifiers, and only the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the African cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast by January 2024. Hence, Nigeria need at least a draw in this game to guarantee they qualify for next year’s AFCON and a win to take us back to the top of the group.

Our star player, Victor Osimhen is currently the top goal scorer at this qualifiers alongside Sadio Mane with 5 goals from 4 games.

The Super Eagles started this qualification campaign in June last year against Sierra Leone with Nigeria winning that game 2 goals to one. Sierra Leone scored first in that game before Iwobi equalized and Osimhen scored the winning goal. Our next game was a whooping 10-0 victory away against Sao Tome and Principe, our third game was a 1-0 loss to at home to Guinea Bissau, and out fourth game was a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture against Guinea Bissau.

Sierra Leone on the other hand started with a 2-1 loss against Nigeria, followed by a 2-2 draw against Guinea Bissau, followed by another 2-2 draw against Sao Tome and Principe, and in their fourth game they defeated Sao Tome and Principe away from home 2 goals to nil in the reverse fixture.

So far, Nigeria have scored 13 goals and conceded only twice from 4 games, while Sierra Leone have scored 7 goals and conceded 6 times from 4 games.
After this game, Nigeria will then play Sao Tome and Principe in the final game of the Qualifiers.

Let us see if our talented players like Victor Osimhen, Chukwueze, Awoniyi, Iwobi, Moses Simon, Joe Aribo among many others are able to find their rhythm against Sierra Leone. I expect a tough match, Sierra Leone also wants to qualify for the 2023 AFCON, so they won’t make it easy for the super eagles.
