In a deft move to tackle upsurge in crime and criminalities in major towns in Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria, the State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has launched a security outfit codenamed, “Metropolitan Quick Response Squad”. At the launch of the initiative in Lokoja, the Kogi helmsman revealed that the initiative is in partnership with the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in the state. Governor Ododo pledged to deal decisively with criminal elements in the State. Meanwhile, some gunmen invaded Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area of the state, leaving 19 people dead and several houses burnt.

The Joint Military Operation known as Udoka has destroyed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB notorious camp in Ezioha forest in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo state.

The operation leads to the discovery of three corpses of unidentified persons buried in a shallow grave. Several vehicles were also recovered.

Speaking while conducting journalists round the camp the Commander of the Joint military operation Usman Lawal says the camp has been a hiding place for the proscribed IPOB as well as a house for keeping kidnapped persons.

The Commander further disclosed that the camp which borders Oru East, Njaba and Mbaitolu Local Government Areas of Imo state is being commanded by what he calls B44, a notorious IPOB Commander.

Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, says the Monday fire outbreak at the Bonny/Nembe/Bille Jetty, off Creek Road in the Old Port Harcourt Township, was unfortunate and expressed sympathy to those who were personally impacted by the inferno.

Sir Fubara further expressed his determination to work with the operators of the jetty to streamline measures that will end the occurrence of these annual infernos in the area. The governor gave the assurance through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, who represented him with the high-powered delegation that he led to visit the scene of the inferno.

The states are Gombe, Delta, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Ogun, Kaduna.

The court has mentioned that it would kick off with that of Nasarawa and Delta states, before going into others. Present in court are Nasarawa state governor Abdulai Sule, former APC Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and Umar Tanko Alamkura amongst other dignitaries.

In the Nasarawa appeal, David Ombugadu, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is challenging the Court of Appeal decision affirming Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress as governor of Nasarawa State. In Delta State, the All Progressives Congress, Social Democratic Party, and Labour Party and their candidates are challenging the decision of the court of appeal which affirmed the election of Sheriff Oborevwori as the governor of Delta State.
