A Community Round is when a startup lets thousands of their customers, users, & fans invest alongside VCs and angel investors or instead of VCs and professional investors entirely.

Community rounds have only been around a few years and were coined by Wefunder, the largest online fundraising portal for startups. This category of Regulation Crowdfunding is rapidly evolving and it’s an exciting time to be an entrepreneur or investor!

Over the last few years I’ve invested in a couple dozen startups across multiple platforms and I’ve interviewed over 300 Startup Founders in Shark-Tank style Investor panels.
