I don’t mean to be rude but…..

Use this expression to clarify to the other person that your intention is not to be rude. In this way, the other person may take things in his stride and not misjudge you to be a rude person.

I hate to tell you this but…..:

When you have something very negative or offensive to say to the other person, start with this phrase. When you use this phrase, you show that you dislike saying what you are about to say.

I don’t know how to tell you this………

When you use this expression, you express that you are not so comfortable saying what you have to and that you are in search for the right words to put your point across. The listener realises that he is in store for something not so pleasant.

You might not like what I have to say but……

Well, if you are sure the listener is going to be offended, use this expression. You are letting him know that some unpleasant words are on his way and he just may not like it.

I wish I didn’t have to tell you this……

You have no option but to say something unpleasant to someone? Use this phrase. You clearly mention that you wish you were not the person to say this.

This may be unpleasant but….

This expression clearly expresses that you have something unpleasant to say.

This may seem blunt….

When you want to be upfront without sugar coating your words, use this expression. When you use this expression, you are telling the other person that you are being direct with whatever you have to say.
