Ebonyi state government of Nigeria has taken a bold step to revive the sport sector in Ebonyi state.
He made his fillings known at the Abakaliki township stadium when he watch the New clubs performance.
For over eight years Ebonyi has never had a football club or sporting activities, this shows that he is a youthful governor who has the interest of his people at heart

In a bid to fulfil article “A” of the people’s charter of needs under sports which is to reintroduce a Football team for the State, His Excellency, Right Honourable Builder Francis Nwifuru today Saturday July 29, 2023 officially kicked off the 2023 Governor’s Cup Competition amidst rare flamboyance.

The Competition which is an inter Local Government fiesta is expected to birth a brand new Soccer Team for the State in no distant time.

His Excellency, Right Honourable Builder Francis Nwifuru was represented on the event by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Moses Ije Odunwa.

The opening fixture featured team Ezza North slugging it out with team Edda with both teams sharing the spoil at the end of regular time.

Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki is the venue of the Soccer showpiece.
