Chinecherem Nnamdi achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new national record and clinching gold in the men’s javelin event. Meanwhile, the women’s 4x400m relay team, comprising Esther Joseph, Patience Okon-George, Brittany Ogunmokun, and Omolara Ogunmakinju, secured another gold medal with an outstanding performance.
In addition to the gold medals, Nigeria also bagged two silver medals, with Olayinka Olajide excelling in the women’s 200m event and Sade Olatoye demonstrating skill in the women’s shot put category.
With these achievements, Nigeria’s athletics team concluded the event with an impressive tally of 11 gold, six silver, and four bronze medals, totaling 21 medals overall. The stellar performances underscore Nigeria’s status as a powerhouse in African athletics, highlighting the talent and dedication of its athletes.
