Gulf of Mexico remains quiet with no tropical activity headed towards SE Texas. But the Atlantic is still busy with Tropical Storm Philippe approaching the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico. Philippe should get close to the Northern Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico by this weekend with the potential for 2-4″ of rain. But Philippe is forecast to lose tropical characteristics and weaken to a remnant low by this weekend. Tropical wave in the east central Atlantic still has a high chance to become a tropical depression or possibly Tropical Storm Rina over the next day or two.
