Zimbabwean man Webiston Jokonya is trending on social media after it emerged that he founded his own country called the United Republic of Delvin.

Webiston Jokonya Forms His Own Country United Republic of Delvin
Webiston Jokonya made history on the 5th of September 2023, after he founded his own new country, the United Republic of Delvin (URD). He declared it a new sovereign State and became its first Prime Minister
The United Republic of Delvin (URD) is a sovereign nation (Micronation) located in the Central Pacific Ocean, next to Kiribati Island. Jokonya reportedly discovered the Island, previously believed to be unclaimed and uninhabited, in 2023 and declared it an independent sovereign State.
At the time of reporting, the country has only 36 registered citizens. Pictures of the United Republic of Delvin currency have already started circulating on social media.
Social Media Erupts with Reactions
Jokonya’s new country has sent social media into a frenzy. While some social media users found it hilarious that Webiston Jokonya decided to form his own country after probably finding it unbearable in Zimbabwe, some have expressed their keenness to relocate to the United Republic of Delvin and become Delvian citizens.
Netizens argued that it would be better to stay in the United Republic of Delvin than in Zimbabwe.
