The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Peter Uzokwe of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, as the winner of the rerun election for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency of Anambra.

The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Charles Nweke, said that Uzokwe polled 25,518 votes to defeat the Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate, Uchenna Elodimuo, who scored 25,412 votes.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Elodimuo lost his seat to the YPP candidate Uzokwe.

NAN reports that the rerun election was scheduled by INEC after a court of competent jurisdiction ordered a rerun to determine the actual winner of the election.
