A former media aide to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has criticised the attitude on the president’s certificate taken by supporters of the 2023 presidential contenders, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
According to Onanuga, anyone who dispute Tinubu’s enrollment at Chicago State University are wasting their time and chasing shadows.
He insisted that Tinubu did, in fact, attend Chicago State University and earn his degree there back in 1979.
Specifically, Onanuga was responding to documents shared on Twitter by a user who claimed the FBI had stated that Tinubu did not enrol at Chicago State University.
His tweet read: “Supporters of Atiku and Peter Obi continue to chase ghosts and waste time controverting President Tinubu’s appearance at Chicago State University. The fact that he went to college and earned a degree in 1979 cannot be denied. The year 1999 was when I first realised this to be true.
As the paper’s editor-in-chief, I went to the institution to get the official confirmation of Tinubu’s degree from the registrar.
“The file you proudly displayed on the right demonstrates your bafflement and hostility. Chicago’s University is mentioned, not CSU. President Tinubu needs some time to himself so he can get down to the serious job of governing; would you and your group please give him that?
