World Radio Day 2024: Kano NUJ Chairman calls on stations to promote unity

The Radio has become an integral part of the lives of many Nigerians.

In Kano State, the number of radio stations have continued to increase reaching remote communities, educating, entertaining and informing them of the latest happenings.

TVC News Correspondent Ibrahim Isah reports that both the listeners, owners and presenters have continued to remember how profoundly the radio impact the lives of millions.

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), radio has reached the 100-year mark, making it an important time to remember the medium’s many influences and power.

A resident in Kano, Nura Adamu is an ardent listener of the radio

He says he has been listening to the radio in Kano for more than 15 years now.

Adamu is happy as the radio continues to impact on his life and that of millions in the state.

Ali Babakusa is the managing director of Express and Kanawa Radio stations in Kano state.

He has been managing the stations for years under high competition from their peers.

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Chapter, Abba Ibrahim encouraged the numerous radio stations in the state to continue promoting peace and unity in their quest for the dissemination of information across the 44 local government areas of the state.

The World Radio Day seeks to increase public and media awareness of radio’s importance, as stated by the United Nations.

The day also aims to encourage radio stations to provide information through their medium while also promoting networking and international cooperation among broadcasters.

The theme for World Radio Day 2024 is “Radio: A Century informing, entertaining, and educating.”
