Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has reacted over the fire incidents that rocked the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja on Monday.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports fire gutted the Canadian High Commission in Abuja on Monday, forcing the commission to suspend operations.

While the inferno at the Canadian High Commission was yet to abet, another was reported at the popular Samsung Headquarters located near Banex Junction in Wuse 2, Abuja.

The fire at Samsung continued to rage for over six hours, from 7:38 pm on November 6, until 01:37 am. on November 7, when it was finally brought under control.

Reacting to the twin fire incident, Obi said the two fire incidents are very concerning, adding that there was need for relevant government agencies to carry out investigations into the cause of the fire incidents.

“The reports of the two fire incidents that rocked the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, yesterday, are very concerning.

“First, a fire incident was reported at the Canadian High Commission, Abuja, where about 2 people reportedly lost their lives, and next was the Samsung office at the Banex Junction in Wuse 2, Abuja, where goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed.

“While I urge the government and the relevant agencies, to carry out investigations into the causes of the fire incidents, I send my sincere sympathies to the Canadian High Commission over this sad occurrence.

“I also commiserate with the business owners at the Samsung Office in Abuja who have lost a fortune to the inferno.

“These are very challenging times, but I encourage them not to despair. May God grant eternal rest to the dead, heal the wounded, and comfort the afflicted,” Obi wrote via X.
