In an interview with Channels TV, Professor Pat Utomi, a political economist, confirmed that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party have agreed to unite and form a powerful party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 presidential election.

Utomi, a strong supporter of Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential elections, stated that the trio had shared their commitment to forming a mega party to take over the country’s leadership. He emphasized the need for leaders who are willing to make sacrifices for the nation’s progress.

Discussing his conversations with the presidential candidates, Utomi mentioned interacting with Atiku Abubakar, Engineer Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Gregory Obi, and Ralph Okey Nwosu of ADC. He stressed that the focus should be on Nigeria and its people, steering away from self-interest. This includes a shift from relying on oil revenue to striving for a more productive economy based on the nation’s natural resources.

He also revealed that the name of the new party is yet to be announced.
