President Bola Tinubu is slated to be the Chief Guest of Honour in this year’s Zik Annual Lecture/Merit Award. The event is billed to hold this Friday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

This was disclosed by the Director-General (DG) of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Lecture/Merit Award, Chineme Onyeke, during a briefing of journalists yesterday.

Also, to grace the occasion is the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, who is billed to be the Chairman of the occasion, while Zik’s wife, Professor Emeritus, Dame Uche Azikiwe, will be the Mother of the Day, according to the Director General.

Onyeke stated that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who is the chief host, will declare the event open, while a former governor of Niger State, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, will be the Keynote Speaker.

According to him, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, is also expected to be in attendance, along with a host of other prominent personalities both within and outside the country.

On the merit award, he listed the personalities to be honoured to include: FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, Cletus Ibeto, businessman, Prof. Nnenna Oti, Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, among others. 

MEANWHILE, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has announced that the
former President of Malawi, Dr Joyce Banda, Governors Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Seyi Makinde of Anambra and Oyo states, respectively, as well as former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, are expected to grace the occasion of the 12th edition of the annual Zik Lecture Series at the institution.

A statement signed by Dr Njide Ezeonyejiaku, and made available to The Guardian, yesterday in Awka, stated that Dr Joyce Banda will be the guest lecturer, while Makinde will be the chairman and Prof Soludo will be the chief guest of honour.
