This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, during a one-day retreat on quick wins in the middle Ministerial deliverables from 2023 to 2027. Mamman said President Tinubu gave the directive that the school feeding programme be taken off the Ministry of Humanitarian and returned to the Ministry of Education. According to the minister, the major reason for organising the retreat was to discover ways of implementing all the policies developed to tackle the challenges and to give responsibilities to different agencies who have been tasked to overturn the out-of-school children problem. The immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, halted the school feeding programme last year. The Federal Government had, however, said in November that the soon-to-be resuscitated National Home Grown School Feeding Programme will cater for over 10 million pupils across the country.
