In Delta State, the well-known political support group, Team Siakpere for Oborevwori, has celebrated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s victory at the Supreme Court.
They have also called on the opposition to collaborate with the government to advance the state’s development.
During a well-attended victory rally in Aghalokpe, Okpe Local Government Area, Mr. John Ewhubare Siakpere, the Director-General of the group, expressed his appreciation for the members of the group and the people of Delta for their support, which led to the Governor’s triumph.
He emphasized Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to ensuring equitable development throughout the state and assured the people that more progress was on the horizon.
Representing Siakpere, Hon. Donald Akpojohare, Chairman of Team Siakpere for Oborevwori, highlighted the significance of surviving 38 pre-election and post-election cases without a single loss as a testament to God’s grace.
He conveyed the Governor’s felicitations and appreciation to the people of Aghalokpe and the stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the victory rally commemorating their success at the Supreme Court the previous Friday.
As faithful members of the party and stakeholders in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s gubernatorial project, we express our immense gratitude to God for the final resolution of all the 38 court cases in favor of the Governor.
Now that the cases have been concluded, the Governor can devote his full attention to delivering substantial dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State, as outlined in his MORE Agenda.
I urge all our fellow citizens in the opposition to join forces with the Governor, bringing forth their ideas and good intentions to ensure the balanced development and progress of our state.
Elections and legal disputes are now behind us, and it is time for comprehensive governance. Let us reject divisive tendencies and unite with the ruling party in the state to provide the people of Delta State with the much-needed infrastructure and human capital development for our beloved state,” he stated.
Siakpere further commented that the past 8 months have been remarkable, with the Governor making bold moves, and he believed that the best is yet to come from him.
Governor Oborevwori has wasted no time in getting to work and has ensured that the court cases did not hinder the progress of his MORE Agenda for the people of Delta.
Against all odds, he has awarded a contract valued at N78 billion to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for the construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf, pedestrian bridges, and road expansion projects in the Effurun and Warri metropolis.
Notably, this marks the first time Julius Berger has been engaged by the State Government in the history of Delta, and our esteemed Governor deserves commendation for making this prudent decision.
Furthermore, the Governor has granted contracts for the construction of connecting roads through Adagbrasa, Oka junction, and Agbarho to alleviate traffic congestion during the construction of the flyovers at PTI junction and DSC Roundabout.
In addition to these infrastructure projects, the Governor has disbursed a sum of N5.5 billion to settle the promotion arrears owed to state workers over the years. Governor Oborevwori has also sanctioned the borrowing of N40 billion to clear outstanding pensions owed to retirees from local government and primary schools.
Governor Oborevwori, a prudent leader dedicated to fiscal discipline and accountability, demonstrated his commitment by paying off N93.9 billion of the state’s domestic debt, which stood at N465,404,504,431.59.
By September 2023, the state’s domestic debt had decreased to N371,485,618,063.33, marking a reduction of N93,918,886,368.26, equivalent to a 20.18% decrease.
With the challenges behind us, it is time to unite and work for the betterment of the people. I encourage the opposition to join us in this endeavor. Constructive criticism aimed at benefiting the state is welcomed, as our collective desire is for the welfare of the state.

The victory rally included a motorcade, motorcycles, and tricycles, as jubilant members expressed their appreciation to God and the people for their support. The guests were later treated to the popular local meal “Ukodo,” much to the delight of everyone in attendance.
