Oba of Lagos task Atiku, Peter Obi after Supreme Court ruled in favour of Tinubu

The Oba of Lagos, Riliwan Akiolu, made this plea during an interview with The Punch, from the United Kingdom.

Recall that the Supreme Court on Thursday, October 26, 2023, upheld Tinubu’s electoral victory at the February 25 election.

The apex court affirmed the decision of the tribunal, which dismissed the petitions by Atiku and Obi challenging Tinubu’s victory.

Reacting to the development, Oba Akiolu said politicians should be more focused on the welfare of the people.

“Many things are happening to our country. Politicians don’t fight, they will settle later. All of them should come together and move Nigeria forward,” the Oba said.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, reacted to the Supreme Court judgement, which upheld the verdict of the PEPT that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the winner of the 2023 election.

Effiong said he hopes that the National Assembly will further amend the electoral act to clarify the position of the law, especially as regards the issue of electronic transmission of results.

Speaking to Atiku and Obi, Effiong said both men needed to start the work of the opposition by checkmating the administration of President Tinubu.

Legit.ng reported earlier that rights activist and co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls, Aisha Yesufu, reacted to the Supreme Court judgment which affirmed President Tinubu as Nigeria’s duly elected president.

In a post shared on her X page (formerly Twitter), immediately after the court delivered its judgment and quashed all appeals challenging the election victory of Tinubu, Yesufu reiterated that Tinubu is not her president.
