The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has raised serious concerns about the Supreme Court’s treatment of allegations of forgery and identity theft against President Bola Tinubu.

Obi expressed his disappointment, fearing that Nigerians would suffer the consequences of this perceived lack of seriousness.

In a press conference held in Abuja on Monday, Obi criticized the Supreme Court’s decision as a blow to Nigerians, emphazising that Tinubu’s forgery allegations shouldn’t have been handled with levity.

According to Obi, “The Supreme Court abandoned its responsibility as a court of law. The court decision contravenes the overwhelming evidence of election rigging, the false calm of technical glitches, as well as matters of forgery and identity theft as been brought to light.

“These are hefty allegations that should not have been treated with levity. The Supreme Court transferred a heavy moral burden from the courtroom to our national conscience, our democracy is the victim of this courtroom drama.

“It’s a show of unreasonable force against the very Nigerian people from whom the power of the constitution is drawn.

“Datti and I may have ended our quest but this is just the beginning of our quest for hope for the common Nigerian.”
