Supporters of the Labour Party eagerly waited at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos for the arrival of their Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, only to be viciously attacked by political thugs wielding machetes and other dangerous weapons.
Peter Obi had earlier visited Alaba, Lagos, and was making his way to TBS when the horrifying incident took place.
In addition to physical assaults, the thugs also targeted the supporters’ vehicles, causing extensive damage with stones.
Medical personnel at TBS were overwhelmed with attending to the injured individuals in the aftermath of the ruthless attack.
Reacting to the disturbing incident, Dele Momodu, a staunch supporter of the PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, denounced the violence, emphasizing that such actions have no place in civil society.
