Respect Tribunal’s Verdict, Nigerians in Diaspora Urges Atiku, Obi

Nigerian Senior Advocate Mba Ukweni has urged people to avoid demonizing the judiciary.

On Thursday in Calabar, Mr. Ukweni made the call during an interview.

Following the declaration of President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election held on February 25, former vice presidents Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, as well as their supporters, railed against the judicial system. Judges were charged with corruption and dishonest practices.

Reacting to the ruling of the presidential election petitions tribunal handed down on September 6 in Abuja.

The legal expert claimed that the evidence presented to the tribunal judges and the law were the foundations upon which the judges rendered their decisions and formed their opinions.

The senior attorney pointed out that parties who are unhappy can appeal to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t like it when the judiciary is criticized to the point of intimidation for its work. In this nation, the judiciary has experienced a lot of hardship, according to Mr. Ukweni. The judiciary, which is supposed to be impartial and independent from the other branches of government, has been the subject of undue interference. “.

“Judges are not infallible”, he continued. There is no one else but God. Therefore, the general public should exercise some patience with the judiciary. “.

Nigeria needs powerful institutions, Mr. Ukweni added.
