According to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, if Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, had been a more favorable candidate, Nigerians would have voted for him in the general election that took place on February 25, 2023.

Wike made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Wednesday.

The former Governor of Rivers State disclosed that he threw his support behind President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, instead of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the fiercely contested poll.

While Wike stated that he no longer discusses presidential candidates, he emphasized, “I now focus on discussing the economy and what the president has to offer.

If Peter Obi had been a stronger candidate, Nigerians would have voted for him.”
