The Ubabukoh family from Ngo Village in Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, has set April 25, 2024, as the burial date for their beloved patriarch, Mr. Ifeanyi John Ubabukoh, who peacefully passed away on February 18, 2024.

Mr. Ubabukoh, a respected columnist and former Chairman of the Editorial Board at Champion Newspapers, leaves behind a legacy of journalistic excellence. He began his illustrious career at The Mail, where he served as editor for both the Sunday and daily editions. Later, he made significant contributions to the National Concord, rising from Chief Correspondent to News Editor.

His remarkable talent also shone at New Nation, where he was twice honored by Publisher Gbolabo Ogunsawo and promoted to Features Editor. After retiring from Champion Newspapers, he dedicated his expertise to public service as Senior Special Assistant on Communication to former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, from June 2009 to June 2012.

A Service of Songs will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the late journalist’s residence in Ngo Village. The following day, April 25, his remains will be laid to rest, beginning with lying-in-state at his compound in Ngo, followed by a funeral service and interment.

In a statement on behalf of the family, Mr. Ozioma Ubabukoh, the late journalist’s son, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and shared fond memories of his father’s wit, humility, and generosity. He lamented that his father’s wealth of knowledge and experience was lost too soon.

Mr. Ubabukoh is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. An Outing Service to honor his life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Igbo-Ukwu.
