Described as a Twitter President by Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson of the Atiku-Okowa 2023 presidential campaign, ex-Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has come under criticism.

Bwala highlighted that Obi tends to grandstand and has a propensity for approbation and reprobation.

The criticism stemmed from Obi’s response to the news of Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, withdrawing from the FIBA Afrobasket 2025 Qualifiers due to financial constraints.

Obi had expressed his disappointment on X, saying, “I read, with dismay, the reports of the withdrawal of Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Afrobasket 2025 Qualifiers due to lack of funds.”

However, Bwala reminded Obi of a past statement where he emphasized the need to avoid recklessly spending money on immediate problems.

He criticized the former Anambra State governor for what he perceived as grandstanding.

In a post on X, Bwala wrote: “Pitobi, you have a habit of approbating and reprobating. Remember when you made the statement below? You seem to enjoy grandstanding. Truly a Twitter President.”
