Renowned socio-political activist, Reno Omokri, launched another attack on the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing him of being unpatriotic.

In a recent tirade on Sunday, Omokri urged Nigerians to acknowledge the slight increase in the value of the local currency against the US dollar.

Taking to his official X Twitter handle, Omokri emphasized the importance of recognizing the incremental progress made in terms of foreign exchange rates.

He highlighted that the naira has experienced a consistent rise against the dollar and is currently valued at ₦1610 to $1 in both the official and parallel markets.

He stated, “The floating naira continues its appreciation in both official and parallel markets, increasing by ₦6 and now trading at ₦1610 to $1. It’s crucial to celebrate minor victories like this. Why? Because Nigeria’s detractors thrive on spreading negativity.”

“For instance, look at Peter Obi. He remains silent when the naira gains value. He stays mute when the Nigerian Stock Exchange becomes the world’s most profitable. He is absent when our GDP grows by 3.4% according to the latest NBS figures.

“You won’t hear from him when it’s reported that our oil imports have decreased by 50%. But let the smallest negative incident happen, and Obi will eagerly amplify it through his megaphones, singing ‘Go Tell It On The Mountains’.”
