The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Tinubu to save Nigeria and himself from what he described as protracted embarrassment and undue anxiety over the controversy surrounding his certificate.
Obi, who made the call while addressing a press conference in Abuja asked President Tinubu to tell Nigerians the schools he attended, if he participated in the one-year National Youth Service Corps scheme.
He also requested the President to clarify if he changed his name at any time and save the country from an international embarrassment of identity crisis.
According to Obi, the entire Chicago University matter as well as President Tinubu’s many other lingering identity question marks have further worsened Nigeria’s image internationally.
The Labour Presidential candidate said uninformed outsiders now see every Nigerian as a fraudster, certificate forger, or identity thief, adding that the controversy is unnecessary.
The former Anambra State governor maintained that having occupied the highest political office in the country, President Tinubu no longer has a right to any privacy regarding his identity.
