Three people were injured when gunmen opened fire on a corner meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Agha Rafiullah in the Quaidabad neighborhood of Karachi.
As he was leaving the event, Agha Rafiullah, who was running for the NA-230 seat, came out unharmed. Two or three gunshot victims are mentioned in conflicting reports: Sheeraz, 12, who suffered an abdominal wound; Amir Rasool, 50, was shot in the hand; and Ishaq Zahid, 20, who also suffered a hand injury.
The attack took place in the politically charged Gulshan-i-Buner neighborhood, which is well-known for being home to the TTP, an organization that is banned in Pakistan.
It appears that the goal is to sabotage election-related events. To identify and capture the attackers, police are actively looking into the incident under the direction of Malir SSP Tariq Mastoi.
