The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, on Tuesday paid a visit to the Al-Kadriyar family whose six daughters were kidnapped on January 2.

Obi earlier mourned the passing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, stating her death shows “how insecurity currently ravages the nation but also shows how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers.”

While visiting the family on Tuesday, Obi decried the high rate of abductions in different parts of the country and called on the government to address and mitigate insecurity.

His words: “I came to have the opportunity to condole the family and then see the young ones that are still in the hospital.

“It is for all of us to sacrifice everything possible to see that criminality is contained.

“Can you imagine how it feels for a father to lose a young daughter? Imagine Folashade’s family as well. Just imagine the trauma. Imagine what they are going through.

“The government and the people must work hard to stop this. It is a very sad situation. I don’t even know how to start commenting because this is happening every day. We can’t continue this way.”

Recall that the Al-Kadriyar family, including their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, were among the 19 kidnapped victims taken by bandits from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) earlier in January.

According to reports, their father was released to raise the ransom for his daughters. The remaining five sisters regained their freedom on Saturday, January 20.

Alongside Nabeeha, the bandits killed three other victims, including 13-year-old Folashade Ariyo.
