The distinguished Best Politician of the Year 2023 award was given to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, at a function sponsored by Global Affairs Magazine (GAMA).
The celebration, with the theme “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair,” honoured people who had a good influence. Recipients of the GAMA Awards included prominent individuals in media and entertainment. Rufai Oseni of Arise News received accolades for being named the year’s “Most Courageous Television Host.”
Awards were given to well-known Nollywood veterans Kanayo O Kanayo, Orits Wiliki, and Yinka Davies for their services to the Nigerian entertainment industry. Popular comedian Koffi Nuel gave thanks among the stars, stating, “This is for God, my family, and everyone in my team.”

The awards extended beyond entertainment, honoring individuals like Daniel Olukoya of MFM with a lifetime achievement award for service to humanity. Regina Robinson, GAMA convener, emphasized the awards’ purpose: “To celebrate and reward distinguished men and women who are selfless and have impacted others positively.”
Bala Abraham, chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, pledged the foundation’s commitment to aiding the needy. The event showcased Tee Mac’s scintillating flute performance alongside Yinka Davies. Reflecting on the recognition, reggae artist Orits Wiliki remarked, “I dedicate this to the last born in my family, Mrs. Becky; we have weathered the storm together over the years.”
