Expressing his dismay, Obi questioned the appropriateness of a publicly funded “private” visit by the President. He reminded the President that, as a public national asset, all movements should be transparent and of public interest. While acknowledging the President’s recent efforts to cut costs, Obi stressed the importance of personal funding for private visits to address pressing issues like infrastructure maintenance.

Obi pointed to the dilapidated state of public assets, such as malfunctioning facilities at airports, and urged leaders to prioritize cost-cutting measures. He emphasized the need for savings to address minor public concerns and contribute to the development of a new Nigeria. Despite recognizing some cost-cutting initiatives, Obi urged leaders to address critical issues like the dysfunctional elevator at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.
